Raleigh Seeking Hotel Development Proposals for Downtown Parcel

The City of Raleigh will solicit proposals from the development community to construct a hotel on a vacant City-owned site near the Raleigh Convention Center. The City Council voted unanimously today to issue a request-for-proposals for the project.
The vacant 0.51-acre site is bordered by Salisbury, Lenoir and South streets on the south end of downtown. Studies have shown that this site is suitable for mixed use, including restaurant, hotel, residential or office uses. Recently, several development groups have expressed an interest in developing a hotel on the property.
The City of Raleigh, Downtown Raleigh Alliance and other Downtown advocates want to attract more hotel rooms to the city center. This would allow the Raleigh Convention Center to host larger conferences and events.
