Optimist Community Center, a 10,800 square foot facility, is nestled into Optimist Park located in North Raleigh next to the Optimist Pool.

There several outside amenities in Optimist Park. You will find one of Raleigh Parks and Recreation's annual pools, a playground, 8 lighted tennis courts, one softball field and two baseball fields, one with 90 foot base paths and a grass infield.

Also in the park you may find a portion of the Shelley Lake Trail, a 3.1 mile portion of the Raleigh Parks and Recreation Greenway System.

Park Rentals

The community center consists of a classroom, gymnasium, showers and restrooms. Both the gymnasium and classroom are available for rent when not being used by Parks and Recreation programs.

Most courts and ballfields are available for rent. To check availability, call the Tennis Center at 919-872-4129 for tennis courts, the Athletics Division at 919-831-6836 for ballfields, and Optimist Aquatic Center at 919-870-2882 for the pool.

Park Programs

Some of the numerous programs offered include youth athletics, pre-school classes, art classes, camps, badminton free play and an afterschool program. For more information regarding our recreation programs, please see the Leisure Ledger or search RecLink, our online registration program.
